Humanities Washington Brings Talk on Native Americans in Film to Arts Crush

Film historian Lance Rhoades will lead a discussion on the roles of Native Americans in film – onscreen and off – as part of the Puget Sound’s month-long Arts Crush festival. Humanities Washington has partnered with Theatre Puget Sound and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center to put on this event, inviting participation from new audiences and encouraging Seattleites to explore new topics.
Rhoades has taught courses on American Indians in Cinema at the University of Washington, where he and been a researcher and instructor in the American Indian Studies Department. He is a director of film studies at the Seattle Film Institute, a faculty member of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program and a program director for the Mercer Island Library and Arts Council.
The popular film historian is also a member of Humanities Washington’s new Speakers Bureau, a cohort of presenters who facilitate conversation about topics from throughout the humanities. For more information, please visit humanities.org/programs/speakers.
