Sept. 19 Think & Drink in Yakima Delves into Eastern Washington Forest Fires

YAKIMA – Join Humanities Washington for Fire and Forests: From Smokey Bear to Taylor Bridge, a Think & Drink conversation about forest fires and fire management in Eastern Washington. Fire photographer John Marshall and research ecologist Paul Hessburg will lead a discussion about the state’s recent forest fires – including the Taylor Bridge Fire – and how fires and fire-management policies affect our lives.

Marshall is a nature photographer documenting the effects of fires in Eastern Washington and a member of Humanities Washington’s 2012-14 Speakers Bureau. Hessburg is a research ecologist with the U.S. Forest Service specializing in the dry forests and fires in Eastern Washington; he is also a professor at the University of Washington’s College of the Environment.
