Nominations open for Humanities Washington Awards

March 17, 2025

As part of our 50th anniversary, we’re honoring 50 incredible people and organizations across the state.

The Humanities Washington Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the public humanities—people and organizations who bring new stories to light, connect their communities, and encourage us all to think, reflect, and learn.

Anyone can nominate, and nominations are due May 31. Those chosen for this honor will receive $1,000 and the opportunity for public recognition at one of our 50th anniversary regional events. Ten awards will be given in five geographic regions across Washington State (Central, Central Puget Sound, Eastern, Northwestern/Islands, and Southwestern/Coast).

More than 40 Humanities Washington Awards have been given to luminaries in Washington State since 1995, and we’re excited to honor more humanities champions in every corner of our state.
