Introducing WACultures!

The Center for Washington Cultural Traditions is changing its name, its look, and it even has a new website. A joint program of Humanities Washington and ArtsWA, WACultures has been supporting traditional artists and researching cultural practices across the Evergreen State since 2016. WACultures runs several programs—including the Heritage Arts Apprenticeship program—and produces a journal.

On their new site, WACultures is:

·     Sharing cultural artist profiles on the homepage, introducing you to tradition bearers and artists they meet through their apprenticeship program and fieldwork.

·     Opening up their extensive archives, making sounds and images from their collection available online.

·     Relaunching the Journal of Washington State Folklife (formerly Rites of Green). The online journal will present more in-depth stories and reports from various Washington traditions.

The new look and the new site unify what’s been building for years, and create a space where various Washington cultural traditions can be seen, heard, and respected.

We’d like to thank the team at The Medium for designing and building the new site. Let WACultures know what you think by sending them an email at [email protected], and also follow them on social media.
