Humanities Washington’s popular conversation series returns to Greenwood’s Naked City Brewery & Taphouse for State of the Unions: A Conversation on the Institution of Marriage. Social historian Stephanie Coontz, civic leader Anne Levinson and moderator Steve Scher will lead a conversation about marriage, offering both historical context and a consideration of recent same-sex marriage legislation.

Bedtime Stories — Humanities Washington’s annual literary gala — returns to Seattle Oct. 12. And, for the first time, Bedtime Stories debuts in Eastern Washington with a Sept. 28 event in Spokane. Both galas offer an illuminating evening of food, wine and words, with several of the Northwest’s most celebrated authors unveiling original short works inspired by the event theme, Red Eye.
